Wear Orange Weekend: Stand Against Gun Violence

Wear Orange is a national campaign dedicated to raising awareness about gun violence and advocating for gun safety, initiated to honor Hadiya Pendleton—a young woman tragically killed in a shooting in Chicago, Illinois. This weekend, we invite you to join us for a series of events aimed at fostering community engagement and promoting a safer environment.

1. Community Cleanup (June 7th)

Join us for a day of service as we come together to clean up the Ensley neighborhood. We'll kick off the event at the McAlpine Park & Recreation Center. This initiative emphasizes community pride and encourages proactive steps toward creating safer spaces for all.

2. Basketball Game (June 7th)

Come watch thrilling matchups featuring top streetball players, including HeziGod, Pattsoowavy, and Alabama’s own Brandon Moss aka Body Bag. These games will not only showcase incredible talent but also promote unity and camaraderie through sports.

3. "Stop the Violence" Block Party (June 8th)

We will complete the weekend in a vibrant block party designed to bring the community together. Enjoy entertainment, access to valuable resources, family games and activities, and delicious food. This event fosters a spirit of togetherness while advocating for safer streets.

Wear Orange weekend is more than just a celebration; it's a powerful statement against violence and a commitment to investing in our communities. Let’s wear orange and show our support for this important cause!
